What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security feature included in your user login for the Employer Portal. It adds an extra layer of protection to your account.
How do I set up MFA?
Note: MFA can be setup via the onboarding, account creation, or MFA reset flows.
You can set up MFA using both an authentication app (such as Google Authenticator) and your mobile number, or just your mobile number alone.
After clicking ‘Use Authentication App’, you will be presented with the screen below.
You will need to open your authentication app (or install one from your App Store).
To set up your authentication app, you can either scan the QR code (Option A) or manually enter the setup key to add the code to your app (Option B).
Option A - Scan the QR Code
Open your Authenticator App
Scan the QR code in the Employer portal
Once the barcode is correctly scanned, you will see the newly added MFA code in your Authentication app
Option B - Manually add the set up key
Help: We recommend scanning the QR code. If you're having trouble when copying the key, please try scanning the QR code to resolve any issues.
Open the Authenticator app and select Enter a setup key
Note: Your code will display within the red box, highlighted below.
You will then view the newly added MFA code into your authenticator app.
After successfully adding to your authentication app, go back to your screen and click Continue to finalise the MFA setup.
After clicking Continue, you will be prompted to enter the code shown in your authentication app. Check your app and enter the code.
Note: This code changes constantly and is time-sensitive, as indicated by the timer to the right of the code in your MFA app. Be sure to enter the code that's currently displayed in your authentication app.
Congratulations - you have now set up MFA by Authentication app
The next step is to verify your mobile phone number for an added layer of security.
Important: Ensure you use a phone number that you have constant access to, and not someone else's. It's important that it's your own mobile number.
You will receive a code on your mobile, similar to the one below:
Enter the code into the space provided.
Note: If you do not enter the code within 5 minutes, you will need to request a new code and use the one sent to you.
Congratulations! You have successfully completed setting up your MFA with both an authenticator app and a phone number. By doing this, you’ve enhanced your account's security, safeguarding your account and information.
