Context: This guide demonstrates the process of creating a Branch for an organisation in the Employer Portal.
Access & Visibility Rules
Important: All users in the Parent org can still see child org data (employees, employer drop-down, manual grid search, etc.), even without direct access
The org admin who created the branch can access it immediately.
Parent organisation users do not automatically get access and will not see the branch in the hierarchy.
The org admin must explicitly set up users for the branch via User Settings.
Start
Navigate to an Organisation page.
When you hover on an organisation, the ‘View Hierarchy’ option appears. Click on View hierarchy.
If the Organisation is not a Branch, you will see the + New Affiliate button in the top-right.
Click + New Affiliate
You are directed to the New branch or subsidiary page.
Select Branch tile
You are prompted to enter branch details.
Branch Details
Branch Name
Mandatory.
Must be different from the Parent organisation name.
Must be different from any other Affiliate linked to the same Parent (case insensitive, across the hierarchy).
Location ID

Existing legalsuper Employer Account?
If Yes → Enter Employer ID for the branch.
Employer ID must be unique within the ABN.
Option to check a box: “I can’t find my Employer ID.”
Entered Employer ID is validated in Aaspire.
Important: After 3 failed validation attempts, your access to create new organisations will be blocked, and the ABN will be blocked from adding any new affiliate organisations.
Note: If you have selected No to having an existing legalsuper Employer account, a message will appear advising you that a new Employer ID will be issued.
Completing Setup
Click Done (all mandatory fields completed)
A new Organisation is created.
The Organisation you were viewing when you clicked + New becomes the Parent organisation.
The ABN for the new Branch is the same as the Parent’s.
Branch Name becomes the Trading Name.
Other Organisation Details inherit from Parent:
Organisation address → not editable at branch level (tooltip on disabled Edit).
Organisation contacts → editable via Settings.
Classification → not editable at branch level (tooltip on disabled Edit).
Default funds → only Sponsored fund is inherited; others must be added individually.
Stapling setup → inherited from Parent (ABN and Unique Software ID are the same, so no need to re-do ATO permissions).
Success
A Success confirmation screen is displayed.
