Context: This guide covers the File Mapper function within the Employer Portal, and how to map non-SAFF file formats.
If your contribution file isn’t already in SAFF format, you can use the File Mapper to align your CSV file with the SuperStream standard. The process is quick and mostly automated — you just need to confirm a few details and match any fields that aren’t auto-matched.
Follow these steps:
1. Go to Contribution Upload
From the Contributions section, open the Contribution File Upload screen.
On the upload tile, click the mapped file link above the drag-and-drop area. This will take you into the File Mapper.
You will be taken to the File Mapper screen within Settings > Contribution settings. Click Map File.
2. Upload Your File
Drag and drop your CSV file into the upload space, or click Browse to select it from your computer.
3. Provide File Details
You’ll be asked a few questions so the system can understand your file format:
Does your file have headers? (Yes/No)
What row are the headers in? (enter row number)
What row does the data start in? (enter row number)
Date format in your file (choose from dropdown)
Once all fields are complete, click Next.
4. Map Your Fields
The File Mapper will automatically match your file’s column headings to the standard SuperStream fields where possible.
Review the list and manually map any fields that aren’t already matched.
Once all required fields are mapped, click Next.
Note: By checking 'Show mandatory fields only', the side panel will update with the fields that must be mapped and included.
To map a field, select any row item that has "-- Not Mapped --” as the value.
This will open a side panel with the SAFF fields to select from
- Once all required fields are mapped, click Next.
5. Review Your File
A preview of your mapped contribution file will appear in a grid.
Check that the data looks correct.
If you need to adjust anything, click Back to return to mapping.
If everything looks right, click Done.
6. Start Your Contribution
After finishing the mapping, you’ll see a File Mapping Complete screen.
Click Start Contribution to begin creating your new contribution using the mapped file.
To use your mapped file, select File upload and upload the file format that you have mapped.
7. Updating your mapping
If you need to update the file mapping, you can do so via Settings > Contribution Settings
Select View within the File mapper section to review and update your mapping.
